A Documentary Family Portrait Session in Dorset | Colette + Family

Mother with her two young daughtewr looking at their drawings on the sofa at home

The pictures that are most important to me of my own family and friends are the most unguarded ones, the ones of them just being themselves. The ‘posed’ portraits have their place but to capture them in their most candid moments is something else entirely.

The most significant ones, the ones that mean the most to me, always seem to be made in the smaller moments…

An alternative family portrait

A Family Portrait Session doesn't have to mean being encouraged to smile. There's really no need to 'grin and bear it'. It really doesn't have to be that hard. For anyone.

It's always a privilege to spend time photographing a family like this - to capture the small moments that bond them - without any instruction, direction or interference from me!

And even though this was only a 2 hour session, the family gave me so much of themselves.

Thank you, Colette x

Will captured many beautiful moments of our family. I am delighted we did it. We were a bit unsure how it would feel being photographed but Will was friendly and considerate and put us at ease, and took lovely pictures!
Thank you Will!
